Mynster Probus Club, Ilminster

Probus members come from a wide range of backgrounds including teaching, banking, law, industry, military, public services, retail, farming, finance & self-employments across multiple retail and service businesses. The club is strictly non-political and non-sectarian. Membership is restricted to a maximum of 50.

Mynster Probus was formed in 1990 to foster and encourage fellowship amongst its members of retired and semi-retired professional and business men. We have no restictions on boundaries where members may live.

Meetings take place on the fourth Monday of each month (except December) at 10.45 for 11.15am at the Shrubbery Hotel Ilminster TA19 9AR.

These usually follow the routine of a meeting to discuss club affairs, a presentation by an invited guest or a member of our club on a wide range of talks followed by a two course lunch with coffee/tea.

The hotel bar is open & available to the members.

When a Bank holiday coincides with the fourth Monday of any month, then the meeting is held on the prior Monday.

Talks by visiting speakers and our own members are given on a wide range of subjects. Each talk is followed by an optional reasonably priced lunch from a varied menu. Partners, guests and widows of former members are invited to three special Ladies, Summer and Christmas lunches each year.

A coffee morning is held 10.30am to 12 noon on the second Wednesday of each month at The Hornsbury Mill Hotel, Chard TA20 3AQ where partners, family members and guests are always welcome. A social programme of outings and visits to places of interest and regular  skittles matches are arranged almost every month.

If you are new to the area or have lived here for some time, be sure of a warm welcome, pleasant company and a great way to make new friends.
